A BEAUTIFUL STORY ABOUT SANT RAVIDASJI, THE GURU OF MEERA BAIšš
(2/10/23)
Long ago, a man named Pandit Gangaram, was on his way to KUMBHA MELA in HARIDWAR. On his way, he had darshan of SANT RAVIDAS JI. Sant RAVIDAS ji gave a Damri(coin) to him, and asked him to Give it to Ma GANGA, on a condition, that she stretches her hand and accepts the Damri.
Though amused by such a wish, Panditji took the Damri and went on his way to Haridwar. Upon reaching Haridwar, he performed his rituals at HAR KI PAURI, and then stood with the Damri in his hand and told the request of SANT RAVIDAS JI. To His shock and amusement, a beautiful right hand adorned with bangles came out of the river and accepted the Damri, and in return gave a beautiful gold bangle to him to be given as a gift to Sant RAVIDAS JI.
Pandit Gangaram was enchanted by the bangle, and took it home and gave
It to his wife. After an year, bad times fell upon him, and he took the bangle to a rich businessman to sell it. The business man knowing that the bangle was priceless, complained to the King. The Queen fell in love with the bangle, and asked the king for another. The king told Pandit Gangaram to get another bangle or he would punish him with death. Scared and worried, Panditji went to Sant RAVIDAS JI and asked him for his forgiveness. RAVIDAS JI smiled and said "Man changa to kathauti mein Ganga".
Meaning when heart is pure then even the water in a Pot becomes GANGA. And to Pandit Gangaram's astonishment, he could see many bangles in the pot and he picked the bangle that matched the one with the queen, and prostrated to the feet of RAVIDAS JI .
Sant RAVIDAS ji was a epitome of equanimity and enlightenment š
