BEAUTIFUL STORY ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF RIVER GANDAKI, AND SHALIGRAMAš
( 8/10/23 )
READ ON...
Long ago, in a city called SHRAVASTI, there was an extremely beautiful woman called GANDAKI. Though she was born in a family of prostitutes, she was a great devotee of VISHNU. She would accept whoever came to her for the day as her husband, and for that day, she would be his dutiful wife.
Amidst all this, she never for a moment stopped chanting the Ashtakshari. One day, a man came to her and she accepted him as her husband for the day. After serving him lunch, and doing all seva to him,the man collapsed and was dead. As GANDAKI accepted him as her husband, she sat on the pyre with the man's body on her lap, and got ready for sahagamana.
While the pyre was lit, She was chanting Ashtakshari. And miraculously the fire turned into a shower of flowers. She got the SAKSHATKARA of Bhagawan Vishnu ,and when he blessed her and asked her to wish for a boon, she asked Bhagawan Vishnu to be born to her.
Bhagawan granted the boon, and she got transformed into a River. Bhagawan said that he would appear and stay in her womb as a SHALIGRAMA, and said that SHALIGRAMAS
Would only be found in GANDAKI River and are the most powerful form of his worship.
SHALIGRAMAS remain a mystery even today to many scientists. While some say that an insect called VAJRAKEETA, carves stones into SHALIGRAMA for their stay, some say that they are Amonite fossils
If they were carved by insects according to their convenience, why are there only the patterns of shankha, chakra, and Narasimha. Why not other patterns?
If they are Amonite fossils, then what about the patterns. It is discovered that the make of SHALIGRAMA has free flow
Of electrons, just like the Cosmos. That is the reason SHALIGRAMAS are told to be handled with care as they emit high cosmic energy. They need strict rituals of worship, and they are to be obtained from a Guru by his free will and not to be randomly purchased.
