All actions whether good are bad are driven by karma of previous births. Story of MANTHARA, who was responsible for spoiling KAIKEYI'S mind and facilitating SRIRAMA'S Vanavasa is such an example.
MANTHARA, in her previous birth, was a DEER, who loved her daughter very much. Soon, her baby grew up, and paired up with a Stag. One day KAIKEYI'S father Ashwapati, went on a hunt, and aimed at the sturdy stag.
Seeing this, the mother Deer came running to him, and begged Ashwapati to spare her son- in -law and hunt her instead. The king was adamant however and killed the stag. The mother Deer left her body with an ardent desire to give the same pain to him, by making his child a widow too.
In the next birth, she was born in the kingdom of Ashwapati, and was appointed as nanny to KAIKEYI. Once when KAIKEYI was 15, They all went to a nearby forest, and there was a sage meditating. May be the Vasna or impressions of the soul, MANTHARA instigated KAIKEYI to humiliate the sage, who was in deep tapasya. KAIKEYI with her childishness, smeared the sage's face with mud, and laughed and went away.
When the sage got out of his meditation, he realised the humiliation, and out of anger cursed that whoever smeared his face will be smeared the same way with DISGRACE, till the time Sun and Moon exist.
MANTHARA instigated KAIKEYI to send SRIRAMA for Vanavasa,which eventually made her a widow, and even today, she is the object of disgrace.
Karma is intertwined. It's an energy, that gets converted, either good or bad.
Sometimes when this fact is understood, life becomes more acceptable
कर्मानु सारणे बुद्धि बुद्धि कर्मानु सारिणे।।
