अकुर्वतः पितृन् क्रोधात् शपन्ति च स्ववंशजान्॥

Means:
When Departed Ancestors are Kept Satisfied, by Performing Ritualistic Duties towards Them, Their Satisfaction, Bestows Happiness to their Children, Else, their Dissatisfaction, Acts as a Curse to their Children

“प्रीणिते पितृभिस्तैस्तु प्रीणितं जगदप्युत प्रीणन्ति पितरः सर्वे तृप्ताः श्राद्धेन मानवम्”
-Vishnu Puran
Means:
Life becomes Pleasing & Pleasant, When Departed Ancestors are Kept Pleased & Satisfied, by Performing the Ritualistic Duties towards Them.

आयुः प्रजां धनं विद्यां स्वर्गं मोक्षं सुखानि च ।  
प्रयच्छन्ति तथा राज्यं पितरः श्राद्धतर्पिताः ॥
-Markandya Puran
Means:
Long Life, Good Children, Wealth, Happinesses, Power, are Possible, Only when Departed Ancestors are Kept Happy by Performing the Ritualistic Duties Towards Them

धन्यं यशस्यं आयुष्यं स्वर्गं शत्रुविनाशनम् ।
सन्तारकं चेति श्राद्धमाहुर्मनीषिणः ॥
Means:
